What a Quail-ity Surprise!

This week, Year 4 had a very special visitor! One of our parents kindly brought in two of their four-week-old baby quails for us to meet, and it was an unforgettable experience.

The quails were tiny, fluffy and full of character. We were fascinated to see how much they had grown in just four weeks and enjoyed stroking them. We learned that although they are still young, they are becoming more independent every day.

Our visitor shared lots of interesting facts about how the quails hatched, what they eat, how they are cared for and how quickly they grow. We discovered that quails need a safe, warm environment when they are very young and that they enjoy eating specially prepared food to help them grow strong and healthy.

Everyone showed fantastic curiosity by asking thoughtful questions, such as:

• How long do quails live?
• When do they start laying eggs?
• What do baby quails eat?
• How are quails eggs different from chickens eggs

We were so impressed by the children's excellent listening skills, respectful behaviour and enthusiasm throughout the visit. Experiences like this help bring learning to life and inspire children to ask questions about the world around them.

A huge thank you to our wonderful parent volunteer for taking the time to visit Year 4 and share these amazing little birds with us. It was a memorable afternoon that we will all be talking about for a long time!
