Y6: Claire Hatcher Smith comes to Southill!

At Southill we are proud of our strong reading culture. This is no exception in Year 6, with in-depth, fun and oracy based 'book talks' happening every day. We focus on one new book per week, and next week we're doing a sequence of lessons about, "The Mizzy Mysteries: A Skeleton in the Closet." The Mizzy Mysteries books are written by the excellent author Claire Hatcher Smith. Well, guess who came to see us for a workshop? That's right! Claire Hatcher Smith! It was such a delight to spend the morning with her. She led an exciting and fun assembly in which the children had to be detectives. After that, she came to Year 6 and ran a workshop with the class. This involved character profiling from their imaginations, and some 'show not tell' writing. Thank you so much for joining us, Claire!
