Y6: St Ives Day 1
Day 1 complete! After a smooth journey with a stop at Exeter services, we arrived at the Eden Project. As we rolled down through the stunning Cornish hills, the huge biomes came into view and the children were thrilled by how impressively large the whole site is!
We had a welcome talk in the Learning Centre, then set off to explore, starting with the rainforest biome. It really is very humid in there! We focused on adaptation, linking to our recent learning about evolution. Pupils looked out for particularly impressive adaptations, such as leaves that reach up to 6 feet long!
Next was the Mediterranean biome, where we focused on economic factors such as plants used for trade and production, neatly tying in with our last geography topic.
Of course, we visited the gift shop on the way out!
We arrived at the hostel in the late afternoon, and the children went straight to their rooms—they were buzzing with excitement!
Following a delicious fish and chips supper, we went for a walk around the picturesque harbour. Now, incredibly, all the children seem to be asleep... what?!
On that note, the entire class has shown such amazing behaviour today while having heaps of fun. I’m very impressed, Year 6!
