What a wonderfully noisy and musical session we had in Year 1 this week! The children had great fun exploring the glockenspiels and learning how to play along to music.

We started by focusing on the note C, tapping it along to the beat of the music. The children were absolutely amazing at keeping in time! They listened carefully and managed to tap their glockenspiels to the beat with real confidence.

As they were doing so well, I decided to ramp up the challenge! We introduced another note, D, and challenged the children to play both C and D at the right moments. They rose to the challenge brilliantly, showing fantastic concentration and listening skills.

We then played “Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star” and had a lovely sing-song together. The children sang along while playing their glockenspiels and Year 1 did an incredible job of keeping the beat throughout the song. With everyone listening and playing together, it even sounded quite in tune!

There was lots of noise, lots of laughter and most importantly, lots of music-making.
